Semenax has an important dosage detail buyers should understand: the current Canadian licensed directions are not the same as the dose used in the older clinical study. Those two things should not be mixed together.
What is the current licensed Semenax dose in Canada?
The current Health Canada product licence for Semenax (NPN 80108655) lists an adult dose of 4 capsules once daily. The licence says to take the product with food and a few hours before or after other medications or natural health products.
Is that the same dose used in the clinical study?
No. The 2012 clinical study report used 4 capsules twice daily for 2 months. That is a different protocol from the current Canadian licensed directions. Red Elephant does not treat the old study dose as a current consumer instruction.
What side effects were reported in the study?
The clinical study recorded 15 adverse events in total. They were described as mild or moderate; five were considered probably related to the investigational product, one possibly related, and nine unrelated. The report states that all adverse events resolved during the study and that there were no deaths, serious adverse events or other significant adverse events.
What does the current Canadian licence warn about?
- Stop use if hypersensitivity or allergy occurs.
- Consult a healthcare professional if you have a kidney disorder, diabetes, liver disorder, high blood pressure or a seizure disorder.
- Consult before use if you take antidepressants, blood thinners, cardiac glycosides such as digoxin, or blood-pressure medication.
- Do not use if you are allergic or hypersensitive to bee products or pollen.
- If symptoms persist, worsen or new symptoms develop, stop use and consult a healthcare professional.
- The licence advises consulting a healthcare professional for use beyond 3 months.
What about fertility?
The Canadian licence specifically advises consulting a healthcare professional to exclude a serious cause of infertility before use. A semen-volume supplement should not be used as a substitute for fertility evaluation when fertility is the actual concern.
Why the dosage distinction matters
A common review mistake is to quote the older study dose as though it were today’s consumer direction. The safer approach is to use the current product label or licensed direction for dosing and use the old study only to understand what protocol was actually tested.
